The 2024 edition of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup is slated to be played in the West Indies and USA. Hence, watching the matches live will be a real struggle for the sub-continent audience.

In order to suit the TV timings in the sub-continent, the marquee India versus Pakistan encounter in New York on June 9 is likely to be played in daytime, RevSportz reported.

As per the report, Team India will play all their matches in the United States and may only travel to the Caribbean for the knockouts, but the entire discussion is under process.

If the India-Pakistan fixture is held under lights, it will be telecasted early in the morning in the subcontinent, which the concerned parties are trying to avoid as it would impact the viewership drastically.

In case of a day game in the USA, the match will be televised during the evening in the sub-continent, a prime time for the viewers.

According to RevSportz, the main goal is to push cricket in the United States and the ICC wants to leave no stones untouched.

A couple of months ago, the International Olympics Committee (IOC) confirmed cricket’s inclusion at the Los Angeles Olympics of 2028 and the ICC has already started working on a detailed plan to popularize cricket in the USA. The Men in Blue playing all of their T20 World Cup matches in the country is one such step that the apex body is considering.

The report also claims that the ICC is likely to announce the T20 World Cup 2024 schedule by next week. Ireland might feature alongside India and Pakistan in the same group but more will come to light once the governing body releases the fixtures for the showpiece tournament, slated to get underway in the first week of June.
