The International Cricket Council (ICC) and Cricket West Indies (CWI) representatives are currently conducting their second inspection of venues in the Caribbean and the USA for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 in June.

According to a statement from CWI, the inspection, which began on November 30, is a two-week assessment of the venues' readiness and is set to conclude on December 15.

ICC Head of Operations, Khushiyal Singh, said: “Areas that will be assessed include pitch and outfield preparations, practice facilities, players dressing rooms, broadcast and media facilities, IT and security capabilities, hotels and guest houses...areas for fan parks, and other key components that are fundamental to the successful staging of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.”

After the inspections and assessments are completed, the ICC will gather the results and share them with CWI, including any required recommendations.

However, the Windsor Park Sports Stadium will not host matches of the mega event after Dominica withdrew from hosting the event.

The Dominica sports ministry said in a press release: “The implementation timelines submitted by various contractors revealed that it would not be possible to complete these works within the stipulated time frame. As a result, a decision was taken not to host any of the matches in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024.”

Notably, the T20 World Cup 2024 will feature 20 teams with a total of 55 matches scheduled to take place from June 4 to June 30, 2024, in the USA and West Indies.
