England, the winners of the T20 World Cup 2022, will be receiving a huge $1.6 million from the ICC, as they became only the second team to win the tournament twice. The total prize pool of $5.6 million will be distributed among all the teams.
Runners-up Pakistan will get half the amount that England got ($800,000). On the other hand, the two losing semi-finalists - India and New Zealand - will get $400,000 each, as per ICC.
$70,000 each will be given to the teams which made an exit during the Super 12 stage of the tournament. These teams will also get $40,000 per win they clinched during what was a highly-competitive, thrilling Super 12 phase.
UAE, Scotland, Namibia, and West Indies, the four teams that were knocked out of the tournament in the first round itself, will receive $40,000 each, along with an additional $40,000 for each win picked up.
England decimated India to reach the final of the tournament, while Pakistan had gotten better of New Zealand. Asked to chase 138 to win the title, Ben Stokes with 52* and Jos Buttler with 26, and Harry Brook with 20 helped the side attain the target with one over to spare.
Earlier after being put into bat by Jos Buttler, Babar Azam’s Pakistan struggled on a sluggish MCG pitch and posted 137/8 in 20 overs with Shan Masood making 38 and Babar Azam making 32 runs. For England Adil Rashid took two wickets, while Sam Curran took 3/12.
Curran was named the Player of the Match and Player of the tournament.
