England created history on Sunday (November 13) by becoming the first team to hold the ODI World Cup and T20 World Cup simultaneously, after registering a 5-wicket win over Pakistan at Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).
This was also their second T20 World Cup title, joining West Indies who have also won two titles. England won the toss and chose to bowl first and then restricted to Pakistan to just 137/8.
In reply, Ben Stokes (52*) shepherded the chase despite some hiccups before eventually hitting the winning run for England on the final ball of the 19th over. Pakistan's pacers bowled well but there weren't enough runs on the board for them to defend.
After the game, former Pakistan speedster Shoaib Akhtar expressed his sadness with a heartbreak emoji which was quoted by Indian seamer Mohammad Shami, who wrote, “Sorry brother. It’s call karma”.
For those unaware, Akhtar has made quite a lot of remarks regarding Team India through out their campaign, particularly after their loss to England by 10 wickets in the semifinal. He also claimed India had no right to travel to Melbourne to meet Pakistan after such a disappointing performance.
Clearly, the scathing remarks did not go unnoticed by the Indian and he chose to strike when the 'Rawalpindi Express' was derailed by Pakistan's dejecting loss in the final.
Akhtar, replied to Shami with a graphic which carried the screenshot of Indian commentator Harsha Bhogle's tweet praising Pakistan's bowlers for their efforts to defend a low total. He wrote, “And this what you call sensible tweet ..”
