Pakistan captain Babar Azam admitted that there will be pressure when they take on England in the final of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 at the MCG on November 13; after all, the 'Men in Green' are set to play their first World Cup final in more than a decade.
Babar said that he is excited for the big final against England but urged his nation and fans to support the Pakistan team and keep praying for their second T20 World Cup title triumph at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on Sunday.
The star batter mentioned that the momentum is with the Men in Green having won the last three matches, but it will be a different game, so he asked his players to believe in themselves and fans to keep praying for the T20 World Cup 2022 title glory against England at the MCG.
Babar Azam told reporters at the press conference at the MCG, “I’m more excited than nervous since we’ve performed well in our last three matches. It is no doubt that pressure exists but it can only be suppressed with confidence and belief in ourselves.”
The skipper continued, “And for good results it is impertinent that one must do so. The Pakistan nation has always been our backbone. They uphold us through their enthusiasm. I would again request them to support us and keep praying.”
Recently, PCB chief Ramiz Raja shared memories of the 1992 World Cup victory against England at the MCG with the Pakistan team, and speaking on the same, Babar said: “When the chairman came and shared his experience of the World Cup, it put a massive boost in our confidence.”
He signed off by saying on changes in the playing XI for the final against England, “Our strategy is to stick to our plan and using our pace attack as our strength to win the final. Utilizing the powerplay to grab as many wickets will be essential for the match.”
