Indian cricket legend Kapil Dev said that it wouldn’t be unfair to call Team India "chokers" following their repeated failures at the World Cups. His comments came after India’s embarrassing 10-wicket defeat against England in the second semi-final of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 in Adelaide.

Indian bowlers badly failed to deliver on the big occasion, as Jos Buttler and Alex Hales put up a record 170-run partnership to take England over the line in just 16 overs while chasing 169 runs for victory against Team India at Adelaide Oval on Thursday (November 10).

When it comes to the batting department, Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya could only score the fifties against England’s strong bowling, while the rest of the batters fell cheaply in the semi-final.

Well, the 1983 World Cup-winning captain admitted that India played really bad cricket against England but urged the fans and cricketers not to be overly harsh on the national players over just one bad game.

However, the legendary all-rounder said that people can put the "chokers" label on the Indian team, as they yet again failed to lift the World Cup trophy despite making it to the knockout stages. He also said that England assessed the conditions better and outplayed India at Adelaide.

Kapil Dev said in a show on ABP News: “Yes, we can call them chokers. That's okay. They come close and then choke. But don't be too harsh. I agree, India played bad cricket, but we cannot be overly critical based on just one game.”

India will now move to bilateral as they tour New Zealand for white-ball series.
