Former New Zealand cricketer and well-known commentator Danny Morrison lashed out at a Pakistani fan for spreading fake news and hatred on social media using his name. Morrison's name has been doing the rounds on social media for his alleged statement against India over the ICC T20 World Cup 2022.
On Wednesday, Pakistan defeated New Zealand by 7 wickets in the first semi-final to make it to the final of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022, after which many have been expressing their desire to have an India vs. Pakistan final at the iconic MCG on Sunday (November 13).
While India is currently taking on England in the second semi-final at Adelaide Oval, a Pakistani fan used Morrison’s image and tweeted a fake quote using his name that was targeted toward India, accusing them of being corrupt.
The tweet also suggested that Morrison wants Pakistan to beat Team India in the T20 World Cup 2022 final on Sunday, as the world wants justice against the corrupt cricket mafia.
Sharing a picture of Morrison, a Pakistani fan quoted the New Zealander as saying: “I hope we see a Pakistan vs India final and Pakistan beat them. We all want justice against corrupt cricket mafia.”
Well, soon after this tweet went viral, the former cricketer made it clear that the statement was false and lashed out at the Pakistani fan while terming the tweet "absolute garbage."
Morrison tweeted: "I’ve just seen this… absolute garbage!!!!.. ???????? so over this crap on social platforms!!! ????"
