After Pakistan qualified for the T20 World Cup 2022 final by beating New Zealand in the first semi-final, former pacer Shoaib Akhtar said he is eagerly waiting for an India versus Pakistan match in the summit clash, slated to be held at MCG on November 13.
Team India are due to take on England in the second semi-final at the Adelaide Oval on Thursday (November 10).
Earlier in the tournament, India and Pakistan met with each other in Melbourne, where the Men in Blue edged past the Men in Green in a last-ball thriller.
“India, we have reached Melbourne and now we are waiting for you. Wish you the best of luck and hope you reach Melbourne. I want an India vs Pakistan final and, once more, they face each other. The whole world is waiting for it,” Shoaib said in a video posted on his Twitter account.
In the semi-final clash, Pakistan restricted New Zealand to 152/4 and then chased down the target with seven wickets in hand and five balls to spare.
According to Akhtar, the Kiwis misread the pitch and should have opted to field first after winning the toss.
“Well done, Pakistan, well done. Prayers have helped Pakistan reach the final. We have a habit of making comebacks. Pakistan batted brilliantly. New Zealand should have bowled first and they misjudged the pitch,” he added in another video.
Pakistan team has reached the T20 World Cup final after 13 years. Back in 2009, they had defeated Sri Lanka in the final to lift the coveted trophy.
