England captain Jos Buttler showered rich praise on Suryakumar Yadav ahead of the second semi-final of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 against India at Adelaide Oval on Thursday (November 10).
Suryakumar is in red-hot form with the bat in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia, where he has already smashed three fifties and is currently the third-highest run-getter in the tournament with 225 runs in five matches.
The Indian star impressed one and all with his mesmerizing shots and 360-degree batting in the mega event, and Buttler admitted that Surya has provided great entertainment with his bat so far.
The England captain also labeled Suryakumar as the best batter of the T20 World Cup 2022 so far and said they will desperately find a chance to send him back to the pavilion as early as possible.
Jos Buttler said at the pre-match press conference: “Yeah, look, he's been great to watch, hasn't he. I think he's someone who has probably been the batter of the tournament so far in terms of the way you want to watch someone go about it.”
The star wicketkeeper-batter continued: “I think his biggest strength looks to be the amount of freedom he plays with. I think he's obviously got all the shots, but he allows himself to play all the shots, as well. He's got a very free mindset from what I can see.”
He signed off by saying, “But as with any batsman in the world, it takes one chance to create a wicket. We desperately need to find a way to do that, and it would be remiss just to think about him. I think they have some other excellent players, as well.”
