Former India cricketer Aakash Chopra said that while Babar Azam and Temba Bavuma were heavily criticized by fans and the cricket fraternity for their poor performance with the bat in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2022, Rohit Sharma hasn’t received that much criticism despite his scratchy form.

While Pakistan captain Babar scored only 39 runs, South African skipper Bavuma ended the T20 World Cup 2022 campaign with just 70 runs, whereas Indian skipper Rohit could manage only 89 runs in five matches.

However, Pakistan and India both managed to qualify for the semi-finals despite not getting any contributions from their captains and openers in the T20 World Cup 2022.

Chopra feels people should question the Indian skipper’s form as well, like Azam and Bavuma.

Aakash Chopra said on his YouTube channel:The runs did not come from Rohit Sharma's bat once again. Let's not fool ourselves. We are all Indian fans, when we talk about Babar and Temba not scoring runs, we should also say that Rohit is not making runs.”

Speaking on Rohit’s form, he further noted: “He has scored one fifty in five matches, that too was a scratchy fifty, where a catch was dropped as well, and it was a fifty against the Netherlands. Here also you got out, trying to pull a short ball, a fielder was standing in the deep, that's a problem.”

Chopra also criticized India's spin bowling attack, saying Akshar Patel's form is a cause for concern for Team India and it could be exposed against England in the semi-final in Adelaide on November 10.

He signed off by saying, “This weakness is going to be exposed slightly. You have not played Yuzi Chahal and will not be able to play him as well. If you don't play him, how will you stop England on a flat pitch when the square boundaries will be short?”

India take on England in the semi-final of the T20 World Cup on November 10 at Adelaide Oval.
