T20 World Cup 2022: WATCH- Rohit Sharma runs to pick up Indian flag which fell on the ground after security tackles an invader

India had already qualified for the semi-final after the Netherlands defeated South Africa on Sunday in their match. India posted 186/5 in 20 overs after Rohit Sharma won the toss and chose to bat. KL Rahul and Suryakumar Yadav hit half-centuries.

In reply, Zimbabwe could only manage 115 runs with R Ashwin taking three wickets and Mohammad Shami and Hardik Pandya taking two wickets each.

However, during the Zimbabwe batting, a young boy breached the security cover and entered the play area to meet Rohit. The fan was seemingly in tears as he reached in front of the Indian skipper.

Security personnel intervened and escorted the young boy out of the ground. It has been learned that the fan was slapped with a fine of a whopping INR 6.5 lakhs for breaking the discipline of the MCG.

As the security tackled the fan on the ground, the Indian flag which he was holding also fell onto the ground. Seeing this, Rohit Sharma ran towards the security personnel, who picked the flag up and handed it to Rohit.
