India’s Suryakumar Yadav proved to be the decimator for Zimbabwe in their last group 2 match of the T20 World Cup 2022 at the MCG on November 6, 2022. While Zimbabwe did a good job with the ball after Rohit Sharma won the toss and chose to bat, they couldn’t finish it well.
KL Rahul hit 51 runs while Rohit Sharma made 15 runs. Virat Kohli had set a good platform for himself with 26 in 25 balls but got out to a good ball from Sean Williams. Rishabh Pant made 3 runs in his first match of this tournament and Hardik Pandya made 18 in 18 balls.

During his knock, Suryakumar became only the second batter to go past the 1000-run mark in T20Is in one calendar year, after record holder Mohammad Rizwan, who made 1326 runs in 2021.
