India clashed with Zimbabwe in their final Group 2 Super 12s match in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022 at the MCG on Sunday, November 6, 2022. India had already qualified for the semis as the result of the Netherlands defeating South Africa earlier in the day.
On the other hand, Pakistan defeated Bangladesh to qualify for the semi-finals as well.
Rohit Sharma won the toss and chose to bat first in Melbourne and revealed that Rishabh Pant replaced Dinesh Karthik in the playing XI. Zimbabwe made two changes as well as Wellington Masakadza and Tony Munyonga came in for Milton Shumba and Luke Jongwe.
Rohit Sharma got out for 15 runs, while KL Rahul made 51, his fifth half-century in T20 World Cups, but got out the next ball to Sikandar Raza. Rishabh Pant walked in at no.5 and was expected to play some shots.
He tried to do the same against Sean Williams and swept him toward the mid-wicket region in the air. But Ryan Burl moved a couple of paces to his left and dived to take a brilliant catch to send Pant back to the pavilion for 3 runs.
