Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan was not a happy person during his team’s clash against Pakistan in Adelaide on Sunday, November 6, 2022. Pakistan made a meal out of a chaseable target but defeated Bangladesh by 5 wickets, in the end, to qualify for the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup 2022.
Bangladesh batted first after Shakib won the toss and put on a paltry 127/8 in 20 overs despite 54 from Najmul Hasan Shanto. Afif Hossain (24*) and Soumya Sarkar (20) were the other scorers for the Tigers.
Shaheen picked his career-best 4/24, while Shadab Khan took 2/30.
One of Shadab’s wickets was Shakib Al Hasan who was controversially given out LBW on the first ball he faced after he missed the line of a flighted delivery as he danced down the track.
Shakib was quick to review the decision and at first look, it seemed that he had got a big inside edge. The video umpire though ruled that the spike in the 'Ultraedge' was due to the impact of the bat hitting the ground. He went on to ball-tracking and eventually upheld the on-field umpire's decision.

Shakib was left shocked at the decision and got into an argument with the on-field umpires and upset and stayed on the field for a long time, trying to speak with the on-field umpires, who urged him to walk back to the pavilion.
Multiple former cricketers shared their reaction to the dismissal and one of them was Ravi Shastri of India.
He said during the innings break on Star Sports: “Which (the shadow) suggests the bat was in the air and there is a spike, so that ball has to hit the bat and nothing else. But, I think he will be a little disappointed, that it really turned the entire momentum of the game. Big player, big wicket, knockout game and when your captain is dismissed in that fashion, it has a bearing on the dugout.”
