Alex Hales starred with the bat in England’s crucial four-wicket win over Sri Lanka in a T20 World Cup 2022 clash at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Saturday (November 5).

 Chasing 142 to win, Hales slammed 47 off 30 balls to give England a brisk start. His dismissal might have triggered a collapse, but Ben Stokes’ unbeaten 42 off 36 balls took the Three Lions over the finishing line with two deliveries to spare.

With this victory, England knocked Australia out of the ongoing T20 World Cup and became the second team from Group 1 after New Zealand to qualify for the semi-finals.

After the game, Alex Hales interacted with Sky Cricket, which turned a little awkward as former England skipper Eoin Morgan was also part of the broadcasting team and was standing next to the opening batter.

It is worth mentioning here that Hales had failed a drug test twice ahead of the 2019 World Cup and was barred from the squad after being handed a 21-day suspension.

In the wake of the positive drugs test, Hales had lost the trust of then captain Eoin Morgan. However, Morgan’s retirement earlier this year once again opened selection doors for the right-hander.
