T20 World Cup 2022: Cricket fraternity reacts as Virat Kohli and KL Rahul fifties take India to 184/6 against Bangladesh

KL Rahul got into double-figures for the first time in this T20 World Cup 2022 | GettyVirat Kohli continued his good run of form as his unbeaten half-century and first fifty by KL Rahul helped India to a formidable total in their Group 2 Super 12s T20 World Cup 2022 match against Bangladesh at Adelaide on November 2, 2022.

Needing to win both of their remaining games, India came into this match with much motivation despite losing to South Africa in their previous match.

Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan won the toss and chose to bowl first in overcast and cold conditions. Soumya Sarkar made way for pacer Shoriful Islam for the Tigers. Rohit Sharma also said that Akshar Patel was back in the XI for Deepak Hooda.

While Rohit Sharma’s struggles with the bat continued as he fell for 2 runs trying to up the ante in powerplay overs as KL Rahul struggled initially against good bowling from Taskin Ahmed and Hasan Mahmud.

But KL Rahul continued and made 50 in 36 balls with 4 sixes and 3 fours, adding 67 runs with Virat Kohli for the second wicket. After Rahul fell, Suryakumar Yadav added a 16-ball 30 runs before also getting out to the Bangladeshi captain Shakib Al Hasan.

Hardik Pandya (5) and Dinesh Karthik (7) got out early as well, while R Ashwin contributed 13* in 6 balls. But Virat Kohli held the innings together and made 64* in 44 balls with 8 fours and 2 sixes.

During his knock, Kohli became only the second batter after Mahela Jayawardena (1016) to go past the 1,000-run mark in T20 World Cups and now has 1065 runs in 25 matches in the ICC tournament.

India finished on 184/6 in 20 overs, with Hasan Mahmud returning the figures of 3/47 and Shakib taking 2/33.

The cricket fraternity lauded both Virat Kohli and KL Rahul for their amazing knocks in trying conditions.
