Jos Buttler took an excellent catch after top-scoring with 79 runs | GettyEngland and New Zealand clashed in an important Group 1 Super 12s match in the T20 World Cup 2022 at Brisbane on November 1, 2022. England captain Jos Buttler won the toss and chose to bat first.

Thanks to 73 from Buttler and 52 from Alex Hales and their 81-run opening partnership, England posted 179/6 in 20 overs. The only other batter to reach double-figures was Liam Livingstone with 20 runs. Lockie Ferguson picked two wickets, while Tim Southee, Mitchell Santner, and Ish Sodhi were also amongst the wickets.

In reply, England’s Chris Woakes struck early as he got rid of the dangerous Devon Conway who made 3 runs in 9 balls. He got out trying to muscle a short ball on the leg side, into fine leg territory.
