Sourav Ganguly, former BCCI President is confident that Team India will play the final of the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia despite suffering a 5-wicket loss to South Africa in their last Super 12 clash in Perth.
India must defeat Bangladesh on November 2 and Zimbabwe on November 6 to advance to the semifinals, and Ganguly stated that if Rohit Sharma and co. advance to knockouts, they will certainly play the final at the MCG on November 13 to claim their second T20 World Cup title.
The former captain is hopeful that India will easily win their last two Group 2 Super 12 matches and will play in the T20 World Cup 2022 Final following criticism over a loss to South Africa.
Sourav Ganguly said on the sidelines of CAB’s Annual General Meeting: “India only lost one match. India will qualify. Everyone is doing good. India will qualify, I hope. I am hopeful that India will play finals. Let them qualify, after that they will play last two games. That can be anyone’s game.”
Meanwhile, the former BCCI President also congratulated his brother Snehasish Ganguly on being elected the president of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) and hailed the talent present in Bengal.
Ganguly stated, “This is the new team to lead CAB. All of them are very experienced. We hope they will do well. I don’t have to give any suggestions to them. They all know what to do. They will do good. Next year there is World Cup. Not difficult to organize World Cup.”
He signed off by saying, “Bengal is doing good. Every time they play good cricket. I hope new office bearers will also do good for the players. There are a lot of talents in the Bengal cricket team like Shahbaz Ahmed, and Shami is also playing. Mukesh Kumar is there.”
