Amit Mishra’s tweet for the struggling Pakistan captain Babar Azam didn’t go down well with many Pakistani fans and legendary all-rounder Shahid Afridi took a brutal dig at the cricketer for extending support to the batter on social media.
Actually, Babar’s struggle with the bat continued in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2022, as the star batter was yet again dismissed at a poor score of 4 against the Netherlands. However, the Men in Green managed to win this Super 12 match by 6 wickets to keep their semifinal hopes alive.
Well, following another failure with the bat, Mishra took to Twitter to extend support to Babar in his tough time by saying: “This too shall pass. Stay strong”.
The Indian spinner’s tweet was almost exactly similar to the Pakistan captain's tweet that he shared for Virat Kohli when he was struggling for runs for a long time.
We can’t say about his intensions, but many Pakistanis, including Afridi, were seeing it as a taunt, and they were trolling Mishra for his supportive tweet, and the former Pakistan captain went a step ahead, as he took a brutal dig at the Indian cricketer for making Babar’s fun.
Speaking on Pakistan's Samaa TV, Shahid Afridi told the anchor when he was asked to react on Amit Mishra’s tweet: “Ye jo aap naam le rahe hain Amit Mishra, ye bhi India se khela hua hai. Ye spinner tha ki batsman tha? (This name you're taking, Amit Mishra, he has also played for India. Was he a spinner or a batsman?)”
After being told Mishra was a spinner, Afridi said: “Koi baat nahi. Chalein aage. This too shall pass. (Don't worry. Let's move on).”
