Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh was overjoyed after watching the thrilling encounter between arch-rivals India and Pakistan at the MCG on October 23rd which was won by India by 4 wickets.
Virat Kohli starred with 82* with 6 fours and 4 sixes to his name as he demolished the Pakistani bowling attack in the last 5 overs of the Indian chase of 160 runs. India recovered from 45/4 in 10 overs with Hardik Pandya making 40 and adding 113 runs with Kohli.
Earlier Pakistan posted 159/8 with Shan Masood and Iftikhar Ahmed scoring fifties and Arshdeep Singh and Hardik taking three wickets apiece. But in the chase, Kohli kept his cool, hitting runs at will in the last three overs as India won the match by 4 wickets on the last ball of the 20th over.
Reacting to that amazing match between India and Pakistan, Mitchell Marsh said that the World Cup should be stopped here, as it cannot get better than this.
"I actually think we should just stop the World Cup there. Um, if it gets any better than that, we're in for an amazing three weeks. India v Pakistan is always an incredible game to watch. I can't imagine what it would be like to have been in that crowd and to be a part of it," Marsh said in the press conference ahead of Australia's match against Sri Lanka.
Lauding the incredible batting exploits of Virat Kohli, Marsh said: "But yeah. Amazing. Virat Kohli has been through a indifferent 12 months when you think about his career. And for him to do that, um, you know, put his mark on the World Cup and it was an incredible innings to watch, an incredible game. So hopefully there's a few more of those.”
Australia, on the other hand, suffered an 89-run loss to New Zealand in their first match, and now needs to win a couple of matches by big margins to better their net run rate.
