T20 World Cup 2022: WATCH – Glenn Phillips’ acrobatic stunner to get rid of Marcus Stoinis

Glenn Phillips left everyone stunned with his remarkable catch.

Glenn Phillips’ incredible catch | GettyNew Zealand’s Glenn Phillips left everyone stunned with a remarkable catch in the first Super 12 round match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 against Australia at SCG on Saturday (October 22).

Chasing 201 to win, the hosts were reeling at 34/3 when Marcus Stoinis arrived in the middle. The Aussie all-rounder had a tough time with the bat as he couldn’t rotate the strike regularly. Just when he went for a release shot to break the shackles, Stoinis perished for 14-ball 7.

More than Kiwi spinner Mitchell Santner, Glenn Phillps’ brilliance on the field resulted in the dismissal of Stoinis in the ninth over of Australia’s innings.

Marcus Stoinis tried to smash Santner over extra cover but didn’t get the desired connection. Phillips anticipated the catch brilliantly as he ran across from the deep, threw himself at the ball and held onto it with both hands to complete an acrobatic grab.

Coming to the match, New Zealand rode on opener Devon Conway’s unbeaten 92 off 58 balls to pile up 200/3 on the board. Finn Allen also played a blazing knock of 16-ball 42 at the top.

At the time of writing this, Australia were on 87/6 after 13 overs while chasing the stiff target.
