Sri Lanka, Ireland, and the Netherlands are the other three teams to make it into the super 12s round.

While Sri Lanka and Ireland will join Australia, England, Afghanistan, and New Zealand in Group 1, Zimbabwe joins the Netherlands, Pakistan, South Africa, Bangladesh, and India in Group 2.

Meanwhile, Scotland had won the toss and chose to bat first. But apart from George Munsey (54) and Calum Macleod (25), their batting failed to come through as they managed only 132/6 in 20 overs. Tendai Chatara and Richard Ngrava were the best bowlers from Zimbabwe with two wickets each.

In reply, though Zimbabwe lost cheap wickets, captain Craig Ervine (58) and Sikandar Raza (40 in 23 balls), made sure that Zimbabwe crossed the finishing line, as they made 133/5 in 18.3 overs and won by 5 wickets.

With this win, Zimbabwe made it into the Super 12s round, along with Ireland, who had defeated West Indies and knocked them out of the tournament.

The cricket fraternity applauded the Zimbabwe team for their qualification on Twitter.
