India defeated Australia in their first official warm-up match of the T20 World Cup 2022 in Brisbane by 6 runs. Mohammad Shami picked 3/4, while Suryakumar (50) and KL Rahul (55) starred with the bat for the Indian team, while Aaron Finch (76) led from the front for the defending champions.
All-rounder Hardik Pandya looked the most troubled and unsettled of the lot during the match as he faced off against Australian fast bowlers. Of the five deliveries he faced, Pandya was able to put bat to ball on three, including the one in which he got out. In the remaining two, Pandya got beaten.
Mitchell Starc almost had his number as after a couple of wides, the second delivery that Pandya faced was an absolute beauty. Coming over the wicket, the left-arm pacer bowled a full ball shaping away beating Pandya all ends up.
Then stump mic caught Pandya telling Suryakumar Yadav, who was at the non-striker’s end, “Mujhe pata hi nahi chala. Kab aaya, kab beat hua. Pata hi nahi chala (I had no clue about that delivery).”
Later, Pandya’s laborious innings came to end as he was caught by Tim David off Kane Richardson as he tried to glide a ball toward the third man. While he was going off, Suryakumar Yadav was caught on camera, giving a fist bump to Kane Richardson.
