The International Cricket Council (ICC) has on Friday (October 14) confirmed the final squads of all the 16 participating teams in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia after the official deadline passed to make any changes to the squads without approval from the governing body.
The qualifier round of the tournament featuring West Indies, Sri Lanka, Ireland, Zimbabwe, Netherlands, Scotland, UAE and Namibia begins on Sunday, with four teams moving to the Super 12 stage of the competition.
India, South Africa, Pakistan, New Zealand, Afghanistan, Bangladesh and England qualified for the main round due to their superior rankings, while hosts and defending champions Australia qualified automatically for the Super 12s beginning next Saturday (October 22).
ICC stated in a media release: “All teams competing in the First Round of the tournament had already finalised their rosters by a deadline of 9 October, with the Super 12 teams having until 15 October to make any changes.
Bangladesh, Pakistan and India took the opportunity to confirm final adjustments just prior to the deadline. Any further changes will require special ICC permission.”
