“Gutted that I won’t be a part of the T20 World Cup,” says Jasprit Bumrah after being ruled out of marquee event

Team India have copped a body blow ahead of the T20 World Cup in Australia.

Jasprit Bumrah | GettyIndia’s ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah on Tuesday (October 4) expressed his disappointment after being ruled out of the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022.

The Men in Blue have copped a body blow ahead of the showpiece tournament as BCCI on Monday (October 3) released a statement, confirming that Bumrah won’t travel to Australia due to a back injury.

“The BCCI Medical team has ruled out Team India fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah from the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup squad. The decision was taken following a detailed assessment and in consultation with the specialists,” the board said in a media release.

Taking to Twitter, the speedster didn’t only vent out his frustration but also added that he will be cheering for the Indian team throughout their T20 World Cup campaign.

“I am gutted that I won’t be a part of the T20 World Cup this time, but thankful for the wishes, care and support I’ve received from my loved ones. As I recover, I’ll be cheering on the team through their campaign in Australia,” Bumrah tweeted.

Last week, Jasprit Bumrah was ruled out from the ongoing three-match T20I series against South Africa after he experienced back pain while bowling in the nets. Subsequently, the selectors named Mohammed Siraj as Bumrah’s replacement for the last two T20Is versus South Africa.

The BCCI will be naming a replacement for Jasprit Bumrah in the Indian squad for the T20 World Cup 2022 soon.
