India pacer Jasprit Bumrah ruled out of T20 World Cup 2022 due to back injury- Report

Bumrah is expected to be out of action for 4-6 months.

Jasprit Bumrah | BCCIIn disheartening news for the Team India fans, the ace fast bowler, Jasprit Bumrah has been reportedly ruled out of the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022 due to a back injury that kept him out of the West Indies tour and the Asia Cup 2022 as well.

Bumrah had made his comeback into the Indian team for the Australia T20I series, but played only two matches, picking one wicket. Though named in the Indian squad for the three-match T20I series against South Africa, he was not picked in the XI for the first match in Trivandrum after he complained of back pain.

Bumrah hadn’t traveled with the team to Thiruvananthapuram for the series opener against South Africa.

And in shocking news, on Thursday, a BCCI official told PTI that Jasprit Bumrah has suffered a stress fracture to his back and will not play in the remainder of the South Africa T20Is and was also ruled out of the T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia.

The official revealed that it was a stress fracture of the back and Bumrah is expected to be out of action for 4-6 months. The National Cricket Academy physios will soon take a call if he needs surgery or not.

''Bumrah is not going to play the World T20 for sure. He has a serious back condition. It's a stress fracture and he could be out for a period of six months,'' a senior BCCI official told PTI.

He becomes the second senior Indian player to be ruled out of the ICC event after Ravindra Jadeja missed out due to a knee injury.
