Australian Cricket Team’s dynamic all-rounder Mitchell Marsh who suffered an injury during Australia's series against Zimbabwe in August has said that he is hopeful of returning very soon. The T20 World Cup 2022 will be hosted down under from October 16 onwards.

Australia will begin its T20 World Cup campaign against New Zealand at Sydney Cricket Ground on October 22.

Marsh was the PLayer of the Final in the 2021 T20 World Cup had injured his ankle against Zimbabwe and missed the T20I against India and series against New Zealand. The 30-year-old said that he will be available for the T20 World Cup 2022 warm-up series against West Indies next month.

Australia will take on West Indies between October 5-7 before playing against England from October 9 to 14 in the build-up to the T20 World Cup.

"The ankle is coming along pretty well. It’s on the minor end of the scale but with the World Cup coming up, it’s the only opportunity to get it right. I’m certainly not worried about it, it’s coming along well and hopefully I’ll be right to play against the West Indies in a few weeks.

"I knew when I came home from Townsville that was going to be the case and I pushed for India but made the decision to get right for the West Indies series instead. There’s still so much cricket before the World Cup, we’ve got 6 T20s before it starts so plenty of time," Marsh was quoted as saying by The West Australia.

The all-rounder is also one of the contenders to become the next ODI captain as Aaron Finch called time on his ODI career recently. However, Marsh said that his focus is on getting ready for the upcoming T20 World Cup.

"There may be conversations down the track but for me personally, I think this World Cup is so important to us as a team. For me personally, it’s everything that I’ve worked for over the last couple of year so I’ll focus on that, Cricket Australia have got a bit of time to make that call over the next few months so we’ll see where that lands," Marsh said.
