T20 World Cup 2022: “Most unfairly treated Indian player,” Fans react as selectors snub Sanju Samson from T20 WC squad

Sanju Samson failed to make the cut despite his brilliance in T20Is this year.

Sanju Samson | GettyIndia on Monday (September 12) announced their 15-member squad for the upcoming ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2022, with star fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah making his return from injury.

Along with Bumrah, pacer Harshal Patel also returned to the squad, having missed out on the Asia Cup 2022 with to a side strain.

The squad, however, didn’t feature all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, who recently underwent a knee surgery.

Arshdeep Singh and Bhuvneshwar Kumar are the other two premier pacers in the squad, along with the all-rounders Hardik Pandya and Deepak Hooda. On the other hand, Ravichandran Ashwin, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Akshar Patel are the specialist spinners in the line-up.

The batting line-up is along expected lines with skipper Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant, and Dinesh Karthik all included.

The seam duo of Mohammad Shami and Deepak Chahar, middle order batter Shreyas Iyer, and leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi have been kept on standby.

As expected, however, not everyone was pleased with the squad. In particular, the fans of wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson were left dejected by the selectors’ decision to overlook him.

Here’s how they reacted:
