Team India endured a disappointing Asia Cup 2022 campaign as they failed to make it to the final of the multi-nation tournament.
The Rohit Sharma-led side started the tournament with a bang, winning both their group matches against Pakistan and Hong King. However, their campaign got derailed in the Super-4 stage of the competition after suffering back-to-back defeats at the hands of Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
Although the Men in Blue crushed Afghanistan by 101 runs in their last Super-4 clash, it was too late by then to qualify for the final.
With the T20 World Cup 2022 barely a month away, former pacer RP Singh has said that India are not the favourites to win the marquee event in Australia.

Singh also shared his two cents on India’s squad for the T20 World Cup. According to him, the selectors and team management shouldn’t make many changes to their squad as constant shuffling will create more confusion.
“After their performance in the Asia Cup, India won’t go to the T20 World Cup as favorites. If you really want to earn that trophy, you need to do minimal changes in the squad and back the 11-12 players in the upcoming games against Australia and South Africa. If you continue to shuffle, it will only cause more confusion," he told India TV Cricket on Saturday (September 10).
While naming his 15-member squad for the T20 World Cup, RP Singh also made some interesting picks. He included Kuldeep Yadav and Mohammad Shami at the expense of Deepak Hooda and Ravichandran Ashwin.
“I will pick Shami because the pace and bounce will help him bowl back of a length which is his strength. I have also added Kuldeep Yadav because even he can exploit the bounce factor in Australia. KL Rahul might not be in the XI but will definitely be a part of the squad," he remarked.
India will begin their T20 World Cup 2022 campaign against arch-rivals Pakistan at Melbourne Cricket Ground on October 23.
