The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will reportedly announce the squad for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2022 a day prior to the deadline on September 15.

According to a report in InsideSport, the five-member Indian selection committee headed by Chetan Sharma will meet in Mumbai after the conclusion of the upcoming Asia Cup 2022 to finalize the 15-member squad for the T20 World Cup to be held in Australia from October 16 to November 13.

The Asia Cup will be the last chance for the Indian players to impress and stake their claims for a T20 World Cup berth, as the selection committee will meet four days after the conclusion of the tournament on September 11 to finalize the squad for the showpiece event.

It is being reported that four days after the conclusion of the Asia Cup 2022, the Indian selectors will meet in Mumbai to pick and announce the squad for the T20 World Cup 2022, as September 16 is the deadline to submit the squads for the mega event.

According to the ICC, each team is allowed to pick 15 players, but they can travel with a contingent of up to 30 members for the T20 World Cup 2022. However, a total of 23 members will be part of the official squad, comprising 15 players and eight support staff, whereas seven additional squad members can travel to Australia at the expense of the participating country.

These seven additional members can be a mixture of players, including net bowlers, and support staff. On the other hand, the ICC has also made it mandatory for each team to travel with a doctor as part of their contingent for the tournament, keeping in mind COVID.

However, only players that are part of the final 15 can be selected for the matches, and teams are only allowed to use the replacements for medical reasons if the ICC committee approves the same.
