The legendary Australian wicketkeeper-batter, Adam Gilchrist, issued a warning against passing early judgment over one of the greatest cricketers of the game, Virat Kohli. He believes that Kohli should not be ignored for the T20 World Cup 2022 at least at the moment.
Kohli has been struggling with the bat for a long time, but Gilchrist believes that the right-hander is only a break away from returning to his form. Kohli was rested for the ongoing limited-overs series against the West Indies, and he is likely to return to the field with India’s tour of Zimbabwe.
Adam Gilchrist told reporters: “It will be dangerous to cut Virat off at the moment. He is, maybe, a break away from freshening up. He has such vast experience. He has set a high standard for a long time, so we are judging against a great player.”
The Aussie legend also believes that India is one of the strongest contenders to win the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia later this year. He also hailed Team India’s bench strength.
Gilchrist signed off by saying, “India is a talented squad of players and you can say that they are playing right now without their first eleven but getting great results. They are broadening their squad and filling this talent pool with international experience, so they have as good a chance as any team in Australia.”
