Former Indian cricketer Syed Kirmani has backed Virat Kohli to play in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2022 to be played in Australia later this year, despite the fact that he is going through the worst phase of his career.

Kohli has been struggling to score runs across all three formats of the game for a long time, and he was recently rested for the West Indies, where India will play five T20Is, which will be crucial in determining who will be selected for the T20 World Cup 2022.

However, Kirmani believes that Kohli will be unstoppable once he gets among the runs and believes that the former skipper could be a game-changer for Team India at the T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia.

Syed Kirmani told Dainik Jagran: “Virat Kohli has loads of experience. He should be in the T20 World Cup squad. Once Kohli returns to form, he will be unstoppable. He could be a game-changer. A player with Kohli's experience and abilities deserves to be in the World Cup squad.”

He signed off by saying, “There is tough competition in the Indian team. Look, if someone else was going through the rough patch that Kohli is, he would have been dropped from the team by now. But I feel that an established player should be given the benefit of the doubt.”
