Virender Sehwag names his 3 picks for India's top-order for T20 World Cup 2022, no Virat Kohli

The T20 World Cup 2022 will be played in Australia in October-November this year.

Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag has selected his ideal top three for the Indian team for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2022. The tournament is slated to be played in Australia later this year.

However, while naming his picks for the Indian top order, Sehwag surprisingly omitted former Indian skipper Virat Kohli from his list of candidates for the top-order spot for the Men in Blue at the international competition.

In T20Is, Sehwag opted for heavy hitters at the top and desires a left-right combo, and suggested Team India select Ishan Kishan as their opener in addition to either KL Rahul or Rohit Sharma.

In an interaction with Sony Sports, Sehwag said, “India has options aplenty when it comes to hard hitters in T20s. However, I would personally vouch for Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan, and KL Rahul as the top three batters for the World Cup in Australia. The right-hand and left-hand combination of Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan, or for that matter, Ishan and KL Rahul could be quite interesting for the World T20."

With some outstanding performance in recent times, Kishan has forced his candidature for the T20 World Cup. The Mumbai Indians star scored 206 runs in five games, including two half-centuries, against South Africa at home recently.

In the opening game of the series against Ireland on Sunday, which was hampered by rain, the left-handed opener hit 26 in 11 balls. Kishan became the second-youngest and fastest player to reach 500 runs in the game's shortest version with the knock.

Kishan was a member of India's 2021 T20 World Cup squad, but he got to play only one match as the Men in Blue suffered a forgettable group stage exit.
