Rahul Dravid planning to play T20 World Cup probables from England tour: Sourav Ganguly

The likes of Rohit, Kohli and Bumrah are not featuring in the ongoing T20I series against South Africa.

Rishabh Pant is leading India in the ongoing T20I series at home | GettyBCCI President Sourav Ganguly on Saturday (June 18) said India will play a settled unit from the upcoming England T20I series, with the ones the team management thinks will go on to feature in the T20 World Cup 2022, slated to be held in Australia later this year.

Notably, the likes of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Shami, Ravindra Jadeja, and Suryakumar Yadav are out of action in the ongoing T20I series against South Africa.

The aforementioned players are either resting or nursing an injury. While Rishabh Pant is leading the side, Hardik Pandya is playing the role of a vice-captain.

For the upcoming two-match T20I series against Ireland, Hardik has been named captain with Pant being given a rest.

But with the T20 World Cup less than four months away, Ganguly said the probables will regularly play from the England series, scheduled for next month.

"Rahul Dravid (Team India head coach) is looking into it. He has been planning to play a settled set of players at some stage. Probably from the England tour next month, we will start playing with players who are likely to play in the T20 World Cup in October," Ganguly told The Times of India.

During the England tour, Team India are slated to play six white-ball games (3 T20Is and 3 ODIs) from July 7 to July 17 after the rescheduled fifth Test at Edgbaston from July 1-5.

Meanwhile, India’s young guns are doing a good job in the ongoing five-T20I series against South Africa at home.

After losing the first two matches, the Men in Blue bounced back to level the series 2-2 with emphatic wins in Visakhapatnam and Rajkot.

The series-deciding fifth T20I will be played at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore on Sunday (June 19).
