T20 World Cup 2021: Harbhajan critical of Guptill’s slow knock in final, says he played Test match for New Zealand

Martin Guptill scored 28 off 35 balls in the T20 World Cup 2021 semi-final against Australia.

Martin Guptill | GettyVeteran India spinner Harbhajan Singh was critical of New Zealand opener Martin Guptill’s knock in the final of the ongoing T20 World Cup against Australia at Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Asked to bat first, the Kiwis got off to a brisk start as the duo of Daryl Mitchell and Guptill added 23 runs in just three overs.

After Mitchell’s dismissal, however, New Zealand’s innings derailed a bit. Guptill went into his shell hoping that he will be able cover it later but it didn’t happen.

The right-hander scored 28 off 35 balls before getting out to Adam Zampa in the 12th over. His knock was studded with only 3 boundaries.

Taking to Twitter, Harbhajan wrote: “Guptil played test match for NZ.. what was that inn 35 balls 28?? Seriously man.”

Thanks to skipper Kane Williamson’s 85 off 48 balls, the BlackCaps eventually posted 172/4 in their stipulated 20 overs.

Josh Hazlewood was the stand-out bowler for Australia, claiming three wickets by conceding only 16 runs in his four overs.
