Namibia captain Gerhard Erasmus hopes that his team inspired a few people with their performances in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 to take up the sport back home.

However, Erasmus was disappointed that Namibia suffered a crushing defeat of 9 wickets against India in their final game of the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2021 on Monday (November 8) in Dubai.

Rohit Sharma (56) and KL Rahul (54*) added 86 for the opening wicket to help Team India chase down the target of 133 in just 15.2 overs against Namibia after R Ashwin (3/20) and Ravindra Jadeja (3/16) starred with the ball on Monday at Dubai International Stadium.

Well, Erasmus was happy that Namibia played awesome levels of cricket in the T20 World Cup 2021 and said they will take home some positives from the tournament in the UAE.

Erasmus said in a post-match presentation: “We haven't quite been able to really soak in (the experience) due to the quick turnaround between games. Only once we get back home, we'll be able to realize that we played awesome levels of cricket and were to compete against some strong teams.”

He signed off by saying, “Quite a few highlight performances individually to take home as positives, and also as a team. Good positives and hopefully we can work to get better. Hopefully, we have inspired a few people with our performances to take up the sport.”

For Namibia, Stephan Baard (21) and David Wiese (26) could only manage to cross the 20-mark against India, while Jan Frylinck picked the only wicket of Rohit Sharma in Dubai on Monday.

Namibia won the only game out of their 5 matches in the Super 12 phase of the T20 World Cup 2021 in the UAE and finished the event as the second last team from Group 2.
