Ahead of Australia’s ICC T20 World Cup 2021 clash against West Indies at Abu Dhabi, skipper Aaron Finch lauded pacer Mitchell Starc, saying that the left-arm pacer is a ‘strike weapon’ for his side.

After crushing Bangladesh by 8 wickets in their fourth match of the T20 World Cup, Australia put one step forward in grabbing a spot in the semi-finals.

The big win boosted their Net Run Rate ahead of South Africa’s and a win against West Indies today (6th November) is likely to seal them a place in the semi-finals.

Speaking ahead of the match against West Indies, Australian skipper West Indies admitted that the Kieron Pollard-led side is a dangerous team and with them being out of the tournament and having nothing to lose they are even more dangerous.

“West Indies is such a dangerous side, we saw that when we played them. Obviously with them being out of the competition now, they've got nothing to lose, which can also be a really dangerous spot,” Aaron Finch said.

Aaron Finch lauded Mitchell Starc, saying that the left-arm pacer’s record in all formats of the game is unbelievable and with his ability to take wickets in every phase of the innings makes him as good as anyone in the world. He added that Starc is a strike weapon for his side and he is the one who he turns to most times.

“His record in all formats of the game is unbelievable, but particularly in T20 cricket, he is someone who has got so many skills. The ability to take wickets all through the innings with the new ball, at the death in particular, he is as good as anyone in the world.

“So absolutely he is a strike weapon that we love to use any stage we feel we can exploit someone or there is a little weakness, or you want to keep pressing through the middle overs. He is the one you turn to most times,” he said.

Aaron Finch also lauded Adam Zampa, saying that the leg-spinner will always be a bowler who puts the opposition under pressure.

"The guy is a huge weapon. He is someone who has been so consistent over the last couple of years in both white-ball formats of the game," he said.
