Indian captain Virat Kohli had a pretty special birthday as he led India to a huge win over Scotland that has given the team a reasonable chance of qualifying for the semi-finals if the result of Afghanistan-New Zealand game on Sunday goes their way.

After bowling out Scotland for just 85 in 17.4 overs, India chased down the target in just 6.3 overs to win by 8 wickets and go above Afghanistan and New Zealand's net run-rate.

If Afghanistan beats New Zealand, India will have the opportunity to qualify when they play Namibia in their final game otherwise it will be curtains if the Kane Williamson-led side wins.

Kohli received lots of birthday wishes from his current and former Indian cricketers on his 33rd birthday. Social media was buzzing with birthday greetings and messages for the superstar.

The 33-year-old has scored over 23,000 runs in international cricket with 70 centuries. He is also India's most successful Test captain of all-time with 38 wins and is a 2011 World Cup winner.

After the win, Kohli's birthday was celebrated by his teammates and mentor MS Dhoni, with whom the Indian captain shares a special bond having made his debut under his captaincy and eventually taking over from him in all formats.

BCCI shared a video clip of Kohli cutting the cake in Team India's dressing room.
