Adam Zampa had an amazing outing for Australia in their recent match against Bangladesh in Dubai on November 4, 2021. Australia came into this match to keep their hopes of qualifying for the semis alive.
Aaron Finch won the toss and chose to bowl first in the day match. Shamim Hossain top-scored with 19, while Mohammad Naim and Mahmudullah also crossed double–digits, but couldn’t pass 20 as Bangladesh folded for 73 in 15 overs. Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood picked 2 wickets apiece.
But the hero with the ball proved to be leg-spinner Adam Zampa who finished with 5/19 in 4 overs. It could well have been 6 wickets and a hat-trick for Zampa, who had picked two wickets in two balls in the 11th over.
He had dismissed Shamim Hossain and Mahedi Hasan and was brought back into the attack in the 15th over. Taskin Ahmed faced upto him and Zampa bowled a wide, full ball which the batter edged. However, keeper Matthew Wade failed to grasp the ball, which hit his fingers and went down, with everyone groaning at the missed chance.
In a video shared by the ICC, Zampa is heard saying to Wade, “That was my hat-trick ball", to which Wade replied, “Yeah, I tried to catch it."
