Indian batting legend Sachin Tendulkar heaped praise on Indian openers Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul for their brilliant performance against Afghanistan in a Super 12 contest of the ongoing ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2021 on Wednesday (November 3) in Abu Dhabi.

Both Rahul and Rohit showed the stunning power-hitting on Wednesday, the openers played fabulous knocks of 69 and 74 respectively as well as shared a record 144-run stand in 88 balls to help Team India post 210/2 against Afghanistan in Abu Dhabi.

Defending the total, Indian bowlers never allowed Afghanistan batters to get set, as they bowled them out for 144/7 to win the crucial contest by 66 runs in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2021

Tendulkar said in his Facebook video: “Today's match was a big one for team India and we badly needed that. The way Rohit and Rahul batted was brilliant. Afghanistan got it wrong from the starting, as they started with the spinners. Usually, you can start with the spinners but in today's game, there was grass on the wicket's surface. I would say that seamers would have worked better in that situation.”

Praising the duo’s innings, he noted: “The best thing I found about Rohit today is that the way he played the inside out to off-spinner Nabi. Rohit's experience helped him in this situation and he played some good shots, so as with KL Rahul, very calm and composed and even played some exquisite shots.”

The Master Blaster also lauded Rohit and Rahul for their running between the wickets during the match in Abu Dhabi against Afghanistan.

Tendulkar signed off by saying, “The running between the wickets of the opening pair was really impressive. Usually while scoring boundaries during the powerplay, the batters miss singles and doubles. But that was not the case today and the running was also equally aggressive.”
