Former Pakistan cricketer Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis rubbished the baseless conspiracy theories after India's win over Afghanistan in the T20 World Cup 2021. India beat Afghanistan by 66 runs in Abu Dhabi and kept their chances for the semi-finals alive.

After India's win, Pakistan cricket fans were trending 'fixed match' on social media, believing that the game was rigged to favor India, who have lost their first two Super 12 matches.

Akram reacted to the trend on social media after a few Pakistani journalists and famous personalities also started raising eyebrows at Afghanistan's poor effort against India. He said India are a very good team and their strong comeback should not surprise anyone.

"I don’t know why we like to create such conspiracy theories? India are a very good team. They just had a couple of bad days at the start of the tournament,” said Akram on A Sports.

Waqar called it a 'pointless' thing to say and said, “It’s a pointless thing to say and people should not give it much attention."

India’s batting order finally came good and scored the tournament’s highest total of 210-2 and then restricted their opponent to 144-7.

Openers Rohit Sharma (74) and KL Rahul (69) added a 140-run opening stand to set up their huge score which turned out to be a tough ask for the Afghanistan batting unit.

Apart from Rohit and Rahul, Hardik Pandya and Rishabh Pant also played a crucial cameo and remained not out on 35 and 27 respectively. With the ball, Mohammad Shami picked three wickets, R Ashwin got two, along with Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja bagging one wicket each.
