India's cricketer Dinesh Karthik praised England captain Eoin Morgan on Tuesday (November 2) after their fourth consecutive win in the T20 World Cup 2021. England defeated Sri Lanka by 26 runs after scoring 163/4 batting first in Sharjah.
Karthik posted a tweet and lauded the English skipper for being outstanding with his leadership. He also compared him with former India captain MS Dhoni and added that England are the team to beat in this tournament.
"MS DHONI is to India what EOIN MORGAN is to England. Well-led @Eoin16. Brilliant yesterday. The team to beat this World T20 is @ECB_cricket," he wrote.
The Morgan-led side was in huge trouble after Sri Lanka picked up three of their batters on 35 runs inside the powerplay. Captain Morgan and Jos Buttler piled up a crucial partnership of 112 runs for the fourth wicket.
While Buttler scored unbeaten 101 runs in 67 deliveries, Morgan held one end up and added 36-ball 40 runs before getting out to Wanindu Hasaranga, who bagged three wickets in his four overs for 21 runs.
Sri Lanka needed 34 from the final three overs to win the match, but they lost their last five wickets for eight runs. While England are the table toppers in their Group 1 of Super 12, Sri Lanka are second last in the table with only 1 win in 4 matches.
