Shakib Al Hasan ruled out of T20 World Cup 2021 due to hamstring injury

Bangladesh has lost all of their 3 games in Super12s stage.

Shakib Al Hasan | GettyBangladesh’s top all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has been ruled out of the remainder of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2021 after suffering a hamstring injury, chief selector Minhajul Abedin confirmed on Sunday (October 31).

He also mentioned that the extent of the injury is unknown at this time, and his involvement in the upcoming series against Pakistan, beginning on November 19, will be decided after a report from physiotherapist Julian Calefato. Bangladesh will not ask for a replacement player for the remainder of the competition.

"Shakib sustained a left lower hamstring strain while fielding during the match against the West Indies. In clinical examination it was diagnosed as an injury of Grade 1 intensity. He is ruled out from participation in the last two matches of the tournament and until further review,” said chief physician of the BCB, Debashish Chowdhury.

Bangladesh is virtually out of the semi-finals race after losing their first three games in group 1 of the Super 12s stage.
