Australia thrashed Sri Lanka by seven wickets in their T20 World Cup 2021 encounter on Thursday (October 28) in Dubai, to earn their second win of the tournament.

Australian captain Aaron Finch won the toss and opted to bowl first as Sri Lanka scored 154/6 batting first in their 20 overs. Kusal Perera and Charith Asalanka scored 35 each, while Adam Zampa, Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins all took two wickets respectively.

In reply, Australia comfortably chase down the moderate target in 17 overs for the loss of three wickets with opener David Warner scoring 65. Finch made 37 and Steve Smith remained unbeaten on 28.

Warner, who was short of runs coming into the game showed tremendous intent and faced just 42 balls to score 65 runs. Though Adam Zampa was named the Player-of-the-Match, Warner attended the press conference after the match.

At the start of his presser, Warner hilariously removed the Coca-Cola bottles before an official came forward and asked him to keep the bottles back in their place due to sponsorship commitments.

Warner kept the bottles back and hilariously said, “If it’s good enough for Cristiano, it’s good enough for me” referring to the famous instance of Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo removing the Coca-Cola bottles at one of his press conferences and telling everyone to drink water instead of the aeriated drinks.

Warner had a difficult time coming into the tournament after losing his captaincy and place in the Sunrisers Hyderabad team during the IPL 2021 season which ended with them at the bottom spot of the points table.

His knock against Sri Lanka would certainly give him a lot of confidence ahead of Saturday's clash against Ashes rivals, England.
