Indian fast bowler Mohammad Shami on Thursday (October 28) shared a picture from the team's optional practice session at the ICC Academy Ground in Dubai last night.

Shami, who was at the receiving end of hateful and abusive messages from social media trolls following his poor show in the defeat to Pakistan in the T20 World Cup 2021 opening match for India, received plenty of support from the Indian cricket fraternity and fans in the last few days.

The 31-year-old pacer tweeted, "Back to the grind. Had a productive training session and loved talking to our young talented cricketers. Looking forward to our next game against NZ. #TeamIndia" with a picture of himself and his pace Jasprit Bumrah as well as net bowlers Avesh Khan and Umran Malik.

Shami had conceded 43 runs in his 3.5 overs as India was handed a 10-wicket thrashing by Pakistan, their first win over the arch-rivals in World Cup history after 12 defeats since 1992.

India received some good news in the form of Hardik Pandya resuming bowling as the balance of the side improves drastically when the all-rounder is fit to bowl.

The Virat Kohli-led team next plays New Zealand on Sunday (Oct 31) in Dubai and it is a virtual 'do or die' game for both teams having lost their opening games to Pakistan. The group also features Afghanistan, Scotland and Namibia.
