Former Indian cricketer Ajay Jadeja expressed his disappointment over Indian skipper Virat Kohli’s statement after the team's 10-wicket loss against Pakistan in ICC T20 World Cup 2021.

Team India was in all sorts of trouble when they faced Pakistan in their first match of the T20 World Cup 2021. Left-arm pacer Shaheen Afridi jolted the Virat Kohl-led side by sending both the openers in quick succession of time and left them tumbling at 6/2.

Suryakumar Yadav too perished after hitting a six and a four and Team India on account of skipper Virat Kohli’s 57 and Rishabh Pant’s 39 posted a total of 151 runs on the board, which Pakistan chased with all 10 wickets in hand to beat the Virat Kohli-led side for the first time in the history of World Cup.

Addressing the press conference after the match, skipper Virat Kohli admitted that they were completely outplayed by the opposition and remarked that losing multiple wickets in the powerplay made it difficult for them to come back.

However, this comment of Indian skipper Virat Kohli didn’t go well with former Indian cricketer Ajay Jadeja, who expressed his disappointment and said that when a player like Kohli is batting there’s no way that the match has ended. He added that the Indian skipper’s thinking depicts the approach of the team.

"I heard Virat Kohli's statement that day. He said when we lost two wickets, we fell behind in the match against Pakistan. I was disappointed with that. When a player like Virat Kohli is out there in the middle, there is no way the match has ended. He had not played even two balls and was thinking like that. So, it shows India's approach,” Ajay Jadeja said on Cricbuzz.

The Indian team will next lock horns against New Zealand on 31st October. The match against the Kane Williamson-led side will be almost a must-win encounter for them and it would be interesting to see if ‘Men in Blue’ can stage a comeback after thrashing against Pakistan or not.
