Mohammad Shami | GettyFormer India batter Yuvraj Singh has come out in support of pacer Mohammad Shami, who was subjected to online abuse after India’s 10-wicket defeat at the hands of Pakistan in a T20 World Cup match in Dubai on Sunday (October 24).

Team India were outplayed in the marquee clash as they posted a part total of 151/7 in 20 overs and Pakistan chased it down with 13 balls to spare.

Shami had a tough outing against the arch-rivals, conceding 43 runs in his 3.5 overs. After the game, the fast bowler’s Instagram feed was filled with deplorable comments and he has now received support from a number of current and former Indian cricketers.

Yuvraj is the latest man from the Indian cricket fraternity to stand in solidarity with Shami as he tweeted: "We all have tough days on the field but one bad day cannot define you as a sportsman! Proud of all that you have achieved for the country! I stand by @MdShami11 and team India. Keep working hard boys and never give up no matter what!"

On Tuesday (October 26), BCCI also extended support to Shami through a tweet. The Indian board shared an image of Shami and skipper Virat Kohli from India's warm-up fixture against England and wrote, "Proud, Strong, Upward and onward."

Team India will lock horns with New Zealand in their next match at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday (October 31).
