South Africa fast bowler Kagiso Rabada has admitted his team’s batting concerns, but insisted that the “bickering” on it has to stop, as the Proteas look to bounce back from a horrible defeat at the hands of Australia in their opening game in the ongoing ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021.
In Abu Dhabi, South Africa suffered a five-wicket loss to Australia in a low-scoring affair, and Rabada has insisted that the team did not dwell too much on the defeat as they are gearing up to face the West Indies in Dubai on Tuesday, October 26.
Rabada told reporters, “Coming to this press conference, I kind of knew that people were going to ask or that you guys were going to ask a lot about the batting. We see (the batting) as a concern. The last thing we need to do is keep bickering on and on about it.”
The pacer added, “The batters know what they have to do. We know what we have to do as a team. No one is blaming anyone. But the worst thing you can do is just harp on and on and on about it. It is definitely an area that was of concern, and it's being addressed.”
Rabada denied taking the West Indies lightly despite the defending champions being bowled out for an embarrassing 55 runs inside 15 overs by England and suffered a 9-wicket defeat in the T20 World Cup.
The 26-year-old signed off by saying, “They're a dangerous team. You can't underestimate anyone. Tomorrow is a new day. We're going to have to go and be as disciplined as we were in our first game. We cannot take anything for granted. It's a new game, and they're a strong, powerful team, T20 team especially.”
