T20 World Cup 2021: Pakistani cricketers are huge fans of MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli - Wasim Akram

Wasim Akram said for young players India v Pakistan is just a game and nothing else.

Pakistani bowling legend Wasim Akram said that Pakistan cricketers are huge fans of Indian skipper Virat Kohli and former captain MS Dhoni.  

Pakistan Team started their ICC T20 World Cup 2021 campaign on a dominating note as they thrashed Team India by 10 wickets to register their first win over them in the history of the World Cup. 

As soon as the match was completed, Indian skipper Virat Kohli showed great sportsmanship and hugged Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam, which caught the attention of everyone as many felt that it was the moment of the day. 

Pakistan skipper Babar Azam along with Imad Wasim and Shoaib Malik were then seen having a conversation with Team India mentor MS Dhoni.

Young Pakistani pacer Shahnawaz Dahani also posted a picture with MS Dhoni, calling it a dream come true moment as his team beat India for the first time in a World Cup, and then he got to meet the former Indian wicketkeeper. 

Wasim Akram revealed that Pakistani players are huge fans of Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni and they would love spending time with two greats of Indian cricket. He added that for young cricketers India-Pakistan is only a game and nothing more than that. 

“Sports brings people together, I've been saying this all along. Pakistani boys are huge fans of Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni and they would love to spend time with them. For these cricketers, India vs Pakistan is only a game. I was excited last night and I've moved on, it's okay. 

"At the end of the day it is only a game, somebody has to win and somebody has to lose. Whoever wins congratulations, bad luck, and better luck next time to the losing side,” Wasim Akram told India Today.

Wasim Akram talked about the hype created before every India-Pakistan game but also called it the 'beauty of the contest as it brings the country together. Akram also said that after enjoying the win, he has now moved on and wants Pakistan to go a long way.

“Media also adds fuel to the fire, that's their job, a month before the game they start with their campaigns and ads. That's the beauty of Indo- Pak cricket, the whole country was up celebrating Pakistan's win last night, social media was full of praises for the boys in Green. We did a show for a couple of hours, we were happy but now I've moved on because this is a long haul, it's a big tournament,"
