Former India cricketer Gautam Gambhir is confident of Team India's win over Pakistan in the Super 12 encounter of the 2021 T20 World Cup. The match is scheduled to be played on Sunday (October 24) in Dubai.
Gambhir said although there is political tension between the two countries, it won't affect India's performance in the match and they are going to play well to continue their winning streak over Pakistan in the World Cup.
Speaking to ANI, the cricketer-turned-politician said, "My best wishes are with the team. They have performed well till now. They will surely win. I have full confidence in them."
There have been demands to cancel India vs Pakistan match in the ICC event with the likes of Union Minister Giriraj Singh asking for ‘reconsideration’ due to the tense relationship between the two countries.
BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla had said the calls for canceling the match isn't possible as the board can't pull out from 'international commitment' and they have to play in ICC tournaments.
"The team is doing great. Nothing will impact their performance. The team will play well and will win," Gambhir added when asked about political pressure on Team India.
The ex-cricketer also commented on claims from the other side that Pakistan has a better side than India this time. "Pakistan always says like this. If India plays with the same potential then we can win over any country," he said.
